What is the Spreading the Music House Band?

The Spreading the Music House Band Program offers students a unique opportunity to grow as musicians and performers by working collaboratively in a professional band environment. Designed for students 10+, this exclusive program is tailored for Spreading the Music private lesson students who are ready to take their skills beyond the practice room and onto the stage.

Students will learn what it takes to perform as a cohesive group, developing essential skills such as harmonizing, finding the “pocket,” and mastering stage presence. Under the mentorship of experienced instructors and guest musicians from New Orleans’ vibrant music scene, participants will gain insider knowledge on how to succeed in live performances. They’ll also learn the technical aspects of being in a band, such as setting up equipment, managing sound systems, and understanding the dynamics of a live show. From the first rehearsal to the final performance, students will build confidence, teamwork, and real-world experience while preparing to take the stage at events like the Freret Street Festival and other iconic New Orleans venues.

The Results Are In!

Thank you for being part of the Spreading the Music House Band! We’re excited to officially welcome you to the program and share the next steps, important expectations, and upcoming dates.

Audition Results:

  • Shanrico: Lead Vocals
  • Randall: Vocals and lead Guitar
  • Hazel: Rhythm Guitar
  • Jack: Drums
  • Beyah: Keys

Song List:

  1. “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” by Creedence Clearwater Revival
  2. “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King
  3. “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James

Students should begin listening to these songs, memorizing lyrics, and figuring out chord progressions either by ear or using online resources. Your private teachers can help with individual preparation, and Ted and Lyla will provide guidance at rehearsals. We do not own the rights to this music.

Rehearsal Schedule:

  • Every Tuesday from 6-8 PM
  • First Rehearsal Date: Tuesday, January 14th, from 6–8 PM
  • Location: Spreading the Music Drum Room
There will be a total of 10 rehearsals, and attendance is crucial.

Performance Dates:

  1. March 30th – Spreading the Music Open Mic Night
  2. April 5th – Spreading the Music Spring Recital
Upon successful completion of these performances, students will qualify for additional performances at venues outside of Spreading the Music.

Expectations:

  1. Do not miss rehearsal. Everyone relies on your part to make the music come together.
  2. Respect the space and gear. Treat all equipment and rehearsal areas responsibly.
  3. Have fun, make friends, and make music together. This is a judgment-free, supportive environment.
  4. Don’t be late, and come prepared. Rehearsals are for working together, not individual practice—be ready to play.
  5. Practice with your private teacher. Use your lessons to refine your parts and prepare for rehearsals.

Payment Information:

The program fee is $195, which covers all 10 rehearsals, instructor guidance, and performance opportunities. Payment is due upfront, and you can pay via Acuity at [Link to Payment Page].
